Toshiba updates bullet-time

I like ads when they’re groundbeaking and, well, fun. Here’s a new one for Toshiba, updating the bullet-time technique first used in the Matrix movie.

  1. Actually Matrix was far from being the first. Before Matrix it was actually known as the “GAP Effect” because GAP first used that technique for their tv ads. Then a flood of movies incorporated them (like Wing Commander) but they always felt like they were inserted for no good reasons.

Then came Matrix, the first movie to use it in a way that made sense, and afterward the effect was known as the “bullet effect”.

I remember the first time I saw the effect in a GAP tv ad, and I was flabbergasted. I couldn’t understand how they did it, and was shocked that so few people were talking/buzzing about it.
